Park Home Bill debated

Considering the high instances of rogue park home site owners from financially abusing the residents, Assembly members have been asked to support the residents and protect them from abuse. It was the hot topic of debate in Senedd and was followed by Assembly Member, Peter Black’s proposal. He has introduced the Park Home Private member Bill which is aimed to provide better protection to people staying in the park home sites all over UK. It was introduced after numerous residents complained of pressure tactics by the site owners when they tried to get better facilities. While other reports of unscrupulous park home site owners that blocked the sale of homes, while residents faced intimidation and harassment. Many park home sites have excellent reputation while there are numerous other which have been under investigation for illegal practices and site owner’s intimidation. Director at watchdog organization, Consumer Focus Wales, Maria Battle said: “It is our endeavor and we hope that all of the Assembly members will be supporting the principles of the introduced Bill. This Bill has put the Wales as the example of good practices in UK while combating the numerous issues which has protected the elderly people from abuse by park home owners. We hope that implementing these practices will help to combat the issues in UK. From the reasons that have emerged, it is clear that the issues are because the site operator owns that land and the park home owners own the homes.” Advocates of the bill propound that stringent laws are the only fallback for those intimidated by rogue site owners. It is illegal to pressurize the park home residents for individual gains.
