A care home in Paignton is facing possible closure because of health officials. Lynwood care home that is on Grosvenor Road was given a notice that there was intent to cancel their registration. This all came about after they went through an investigation on safeguarding. Safety and health officials stated that it has major concern concerning the overall living standards at this home. There are eight residents in number and fifteen employees who work as staff there. This care home's owners are arranging an appeal on the decision that was made and are trying to correct the existing problems that need addressing at once. They are already fearful that the closure may very well end up being 'the first to occur among various for the Bay area'. The directors of the home named Ian and Maureen Galbraith, as well as their son Duncan, who is also the manager did comment that a lot of their troubles have happened because of funding issues from Torbay Care Trust. This trust's overall fees have gone up about 1.5% in just three years when compared to the rise in inflation at 15%. It is claimed that they have been paid L390 per week for each of the five individuals who reside at the home. These care costs are funded by the state and can be up to GBP500 per week. The son, Duncan Galbraith revealed: “This is so unrealistic. We're a business that is operated by family. It does not have a major margin for profit.” “Our home is the first of various ones in the Bay area, care homes such as ours cannot go on due not being able to afford to operate.” CQC began making concerns about this home in May of last year, when they made five inspections that were unannounced.
