Ex-owners of Beechland's care home distressed over poor care standards

Published 02/02/2012

THE one-time owners of Beechland's care home that is located in Merseysides was hit hard by standard inspectors. They have recently revealed total disbelief at finding out about the chaos that the home is in now. Just last week, ECHO released information concerning how the Beechland's medical home for those who suffer with dementia would most definitely be charged for having failed to meet fourteen of the government's defined guidelines for patient care . Beechland's care home located in Roby was put into operation about twenty-two years before by a couple named the Gillibanks. It was managed by this couple personally until the home was bought by other owners back in 2008. Their daughter Nicola, who lives in West Derby, was outraged and upset about the poor standards that exist there now. She said: “When I read the ECHO and found out about the terrible care being provided at same place my mother and father had nurtured and set up. I got very angry and sad. I personally worked there for over ten years and the overall care that existed then. Was the very best one could ever hope to get. It was built up from the ground floor – to me, it was something more than just a career. It became my life. My parents and I were very passionate when it came to the care of the patients there. The manner in which these unfortunate people are living now is very appalling.” The information that came from higher up sources on quality commission did report that diabetic patients were not being given any certain types of diets to follow and medical personnel was failing to note any changes in the residents' health status. The Gillibanks’ daughter, confided that only one person was still employed at the home, which was part of the original team of strong personnel that was hired by her mother and father. Her statement was: “My parents truly felt sad about having to retire and sell their business. They were confident at the time that they sold the business to very positive candidates. The Gillibanks even went so far as to work side by side with them to train the new employees and also stressed the importance that certain standards had to be followed there. The couple believed they did have everything as it should be for the next reigning management to take over. But all that the Gillibanks' had hoped for was completely destroyed. I am very let down and disappointed that has been the end result.” “There is trash everywhere, the driveway location and front of building – what has happened here? Something does need to done!” The manager of Beechland's, Mrs. Patel, was unreachable to comment.
