Ex-milkman plans expansion and takes over third care home

Published 02/02/2012

A one-time milkman has become a care home operator. He is planning on delivering with his latest acquisition. Tudur Williams paid for his very first care home back in 1992. He was offered this chance to buy the premises while during his morning milk route there. Mr. Williams now is running two homes, and they are one located in the Haverfordwest, and the other in Llandysul. He recently acquired the third home, an area near Carmarthen. This third care home was bought from a GBP 750,000 investment that was supported by Barclay's. Tudur Williams is a licensed helicopter pilot, who is now planning permission to be able to up the number of patients he will accept into his new care home. He would like to add on a number of extra rooms hopefully within the next few years. Mr. Williams proudly stated: “We do specialize in giving the best manner of care to people that have differing needs. “The demand for high quality care that is dedicated will increase across our region. The placements are limited already. But what we are placing into what we do is essential to what we will yield in the end. All that we are putting into the third new came home will serve to boost our quality of caring. “We do have large rates of residents staying for care that is a sure indicator; we are making it right for those who reside within our walls.” Brynderwen is being given administration by those who once owned it before Mr. Williams. Barclays is providing financial assistance to support this business, which has helped to open up 26 jobs locally. Kath Whitrow, who is Barclays relationship director and president of Swansea Business Club, said “This new investment is a giant step where business development is concerned and do wish them a lot of success in the future.” Being able to work with Mr. Williams and to have an understanding of the business has been a key factor in helping to support the development of all that is taking place.” Mr. Williams looks on the whole thing as being a “family unit” and has collected one hundred beds to add to his credit. Happily commenting, he said: “I have hired special-speaking staff to address the needs of those in my care homes that speak Welsh.” “I possess concerns about the United Kingdom's approach to caring for the elderly. Most people do not know how they are going to finance care provision for the future. Many care homes in the local area are constantly under fire to increased care regulations and standards. This is why we must make notes to take on these challenges, by being open to always raising the bar on senior care.”
